Quite a useful feature in Microsoft Outlook is the ability to make an email from a particular person appear in bold or in a specific colour or font.

To do this

  • Go to your Inbox
  • On the “View” tab, choose “View Settings”
  • Click on “Conditional Formatting”
  • Click the “Add” button to create a new rule
  • Choose a name for the rule, e.g. “From Mom”
  • Click the “Font” button to choose a font/style and colour for your emails to display. For example, have the emails appear green. Hit OK.
  • Now click the “Condition” button. In here you can set all kinds of conditions that will cause your new formatting to come into effect. I want to trigger it for any emails from “mom@gmail,com”. I type that into the “From” box.
  • Hit OK and I’m done. Now all emails from mom@gmail.com appear green in my inbox
